Giới từ là gì?

Giới từ (Preposition), viết tắt là Pre, là từ hoặc cụm từ thể hiện mối quan hệ giữa phần đứng sau nó với các yếu tố khác trong câu. Nhờ đó, câu văn trở nên rõ ràng hơn về ngữ nghĩa và ngữ cảnh.

Ví dụ:

  • The cat is sleeping under the table. (Con mèo đang ngủ dưới bàn.)

→ Giới từ under chỉ vị trí mà hành động ngủ của con mèo đang diễn ra.

  • We have a festival in December every year. (Chúng tôi có một lễ hội vào tháng 12 hằng năm.)

→ Giới từ in diễn tả thời điểm diễn ra lễ hội.
