Cấu trúc no sooner là một trong những cấu trúc quan trọng trong giao tiếp tiếng Anh, dùng để diễn tả sự kiện xảy ra ngay sau khi một sự kiện khác đã xảy ra. Cấu trúc no sooner là gì?

Cấu trúc “no sooner” được sử dụng để diễn tả hai hành động xảy ra nối tiếp nhau trong quá khứ, với hành động thứ nhất vừa mới xảy ra thì hành động thứ hai đã diễn ra ngay sau đó. Cấu trúc này thường đi kèm với “than” và thường xuất hiện dưới dạng câu đảo ngữ để nhấn mạnh thứ tự thời gian.

Ví dụ: 

  • No sooner had I arrived at the station than the train departed. (Tôi vừa mới đến nhà ga thì tàu đã khởi hành.)
  • No sooner had she finished her meal than her phone rang. (Cô ấy vừa mới ăn xong bữa thì điện thoại reo.)

Trong cả hai ví dụ, hành động thứ hai (tàu khởi hành, điện thoại reo) xảy ra ngay lập tức sau khi hành động thứ nhất (đến nhà ga, ăn xong) vừa kết thúc.

Các cách dùng no sooner than phổ biến

Cấu trúc no sooner than thì hiện đại

Cấu trúc: 

No sooner + do/does + S + V (nguyên thể) + than + S + V (hiện tại đơn)

Ví dụ:

  • No sooner does he arrive than he starts complaining. (Anh ấy vừa tới là bắt đầu phàn nàn.)
  • No sooner do they finish their work than they go out for a walk. (Họ vừa làm xong công việc là đi ra ngoài đi dạo.)

Công thức no sooner than thì quá khứ

Cấu trúc:

No sooner + had + S + V3/ed + than + S + V (quá khứ đơn)

Ví dụ:

  • No sooner had the movie started than the power went out. (Bộ phim vừa bắt đầu thì mất điện.)
  • No sooner had she entered the room than everyone started applauding. (Cô ấy vừa bước vào phòng thì mọi người bắt đầu vỗ tay.)

Cấu trúc no sooner với Will

Cấu trúc:

No sooner + will + S + V (nguyên thể) + than + S + V (hiện tại đơn/tương lai đơn)

Ví dụ:

  • No sooner will we arrive than we will need to leave again. (Chúng ta vừa đến thì sẽ phải rời đi ngay.)
  • No sooner will she finish her project than she will start another one. (Cô ấy vừa hoàn thành dự án thì sẽ bắt đầu một dự án khác.)

Đảo ngữ sử dụng no sooner

Cấu trúc:

No sooner + had + S + V3/ed + than + S + V (quá khứ đơn)

Ví dụ:

  • No sooner had we sat down than the show began. (Chúng tôi vừa ngồi xuống thì buổi biểu diễn bắt đầu.)
  • No sooner had the teacher left the room than the students started talking. (Giáo viên vừa rời khỏi phòng thì học sinh bắt đầu nói chuyện.)

Các cấu trúc có thể thay No sooner

Trong một số trường hợp, chúng ta có thể thay thế “No sooner” bằng các cấu trúc khác để tạo ra ngữ cảnh và ý nghĩa khác nhau. Dưới đây là 2 cấu trúc thay thế cho No sooner mà các bạn có thể tham khảo. 

Cấu trúc:

Hardly/ Scarcely/ Barely + had + S + V3/ed + when + S + V2/ed

Ví dụ:

  • Hardly had I arrived when it started to rain. (Ngay khi tôi mới đến thì trời bắt đầu mưa.)
  • Scarcely had we finished dinner when the phone rang. (Ngay khi tôi ăn bữa tối xong thì điện thoại bắt đầu rung.)
  • Barely had I opened the door when I saw my friend. (Mới vừa mở cửa ra thì tôi thấy bạn của mình.)

Cấu trúc As soon as

Cấu trúc:

As soon as S + V2/ed, S V2/ed

Ví dụ:

  • As soon as I got home, I took a shower. (Ngay khi tôi về nhà, tôi đã đi tắm.)
  • As soon as the alarm sounded, we woke up. (Ngay khi chuông báo reo, chúng tôi đã thức dậy.)

Phân biệt no sooner than với Not only, Not until

Ví dụ
